    Hi everyone

I’m a teacher by profession but a passionate photographer specifically interested in bird photography. I have a D5100 second hand, 200-500 Nikkor lens. My problem is I’m not able to capture a flying bird. If I increase ISO, my pictures get noisy and if I don’t then pictures turn out to be dark.

You are at the right place. You need to understand about your equipment capability, understand about getting proper exposure.

To get birds in flight, you need to understand:
    – getting the right ISO and shutter speed for a given aperture
    – Getting the right kind of focusing point to be used.
    – Understanding metering and EV (as you say you are getting dark images)

For all these, please do spend time to go through the course where all these are explained.
