  • Focusing against clear sky background, using Nikon D7000

I use Nikon D7000 camera. When I try to focus on a hovering bird on sky background, holding the camera almost vertically upwards, the auto-focus does not work. I have tried it with two different lenses, Nikon 200-500 VR and Nikon 70-300 AF, the result is the same. Is it the limitation of D7000 or it is malfunction. I don’t find any issue, while focusing against other backgrounds and focusing with the camera held horizontally or tilted down or slightly tilted up.

The sky does not have any contrast and hence af will fail. This will happen to any camera / lens combination. Nothing specific to D7000.

Sir, doesn’t the bird provide contrast? I use single focusing point and Autofocus – continuous mode
