I have Nikon Z6 iii with f4 20-120 MM S lens. Planning to buy Z Teleconverter TC-2.0x to have better zoom in catching the birds and also interested in close up shots of flowers & tiny beings. Hope this will help in both the regards.

Z Teleconverter TC-1.4x is also available but I hope 2.0x would give better zoom. I am beginner and my purpose is purely personal photography with family and friends.

    Please advise.

It will downgrade your F4 aperture by two stops. That is to f/8 ( First stop F/5.6, second F/8). It will downgrade sharpness slightly. You will get x2 focal length

Check compatibility. Like it’s not compatible with 24 – 200 mm z lens

The question of compatibility itself didn’t cross my mind, as I assumed they would be compatible since both of them are from Nikon. Thank you for bringing this to my attention; otherwise, I would have wasted money.

General advice in this kind of situations is to go for dedicated Prosumer Birding Lens of the type Nikon 200-500 or 300mm f4 (or Sigma or Tamron Lenses in this range). I am not familiar with the birding lenses fitting Nikon Mirrorless Cameras. You need to do a search

Thank you.. All long range lens in Nikon are very costly.

For now, I feel like I should focus on going through courses, post processing and utilizing my existing 24mm – 120mm lens.

Yes sir. Photography is a costly but very satisfying hobby for me. That’s better. Please focus on learning. You can ask any doubts you have in the forum and Sudhir Sir my answer. Better to go for regular birding lenses than trying to convert your existing lens for longer range with extender. That is not a best option.. Wait till you can offer at least the basic birding lenses, and then upgrade.

Thank you.. Currently going through basic photography course which is very good.

I am enjoying going to parks and capturing nature during weekends. This is relaxing, creative and lot better than going to malls & other western entertainment which is even more costly.
