I would like to buy one Telephoto Lens [ thinking of 150-600mm] which would be fitted in Nikon DSLR – D 7000 for my present requirement and should be fitted in a good Mirror less camera body in future.

I request you kindly to suggest a good telephoto Lens for bird/wildlife photography; keeping in mind that should be utilized with a good mirror less camera [ name and model] body.

My budget is approx. 1.25 lakh for the lens.

Looking for your kind guidance & suggestions.

if you are talking D7000 series, within the budget range, the nikkor F/4 300mm PF should fit. it will give you a focal length of about 450mm on your crop sensor camera body which is more than enough for most wildlife and birding photography. any increase in the focal length can be done with a 1.4 or a 2 X Teleconverter. To top it off, you will be able to fix this to a mirrorless body using a F to Z converter for Nikon. The advantage of a prime lens will always outweigh the zooms at any time. This will also force you to learn to move your feet to get the perfect shot and the right composition. Please do check if the lens is compatible with your camera.

Another option is Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6. A new will cost you around 90k and it’s a decent sharp lens for its price. If you are looking to use with z mount system in future then you can also invest in ftz adaptor. I know few folks who use 3rd party lenses with adaptor to mirrorless system and their feedback is nothing beats the native glass.

Hi though 150-600mm would be nice combination with any body. I would suggest on buying Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 aperture as you would like move to mirrorless in future it would work great. You will have to sacrifice 100mm extra reach but you will get wide aperture throughout the focal length.

I have been using it for more than a year its a good lens.
