    Hello Sudhir Sir,

I have 18-300mm lens on my D7500 Nikon camera. When I keep my lens at 18mm and change the f value or aperture. Now I change the Zoom to say 100 mm. So my f value will change. How f value change from aperture button and zoom are related ?

    Thanks

That’s because of the technical limitations in lens construction for the regular entry level lenses. The max aperture will be smaller (or the min f number will be higher) for higher zooms. For the higher priced lenses, the max aperture remains same whatever the zoom.

Please do check the specifications of the lens. It says 18-300 f3.5-5.6. Which means at the lower end of the zoom the lowest f value you can set is 3.5 and when you soom to 300mm the lowest f value supported is 5.6

Thanks Sudhir Sir, so at 300 mm, my f value will go from f5.6 to f22. At 18mm, it will be from f3.5 to f22.

        That’s correct.
