Hello there,
I’m Mohamed Rafi, a dedicated Product Designer currently contributing my skills at Shell, based in the picturesque city of Pondicherry, India. Beyond the professional realm, my heart beats for photography, a passion that traces its roots back to my childhood.
In those early days, access to cameras was a distant dream. Undeterred, I immersed myself in books and magazines, devouring every bit of knowledge about photography. The turning point arrived in 2011 when I embraced the world of DSLRs, acquiring my first camera, the Canon 550D with an 18-55 kit lens. This marked the inception of my quest to capture the uniqueness inherent in every moment, freezing them in my vision through the lens of my gears.
Over the years, my dedication to photography has garnered recognition and appreciation from esteemed photographers at both national and international levels. Featured in local magazines, these experiences have been instrumental in my continual exploration of the art of photography. I am an ardent lover of chasing lights and possess an insatiable curiosity to explore all facets of photography without constraints.
Currently armed with a Canon 550D, 18-55 Kit Lens, 50mm 1.8 IS II, Canon 70-300 f4 USM, Canon 6D 24-105 L USM, and my trusty Lowepro Pro Runner 350 AW, I embark on each photographic journey with the intent to capture moments guided by the whispers of my heart and mind.
In 2011, I took a step beyond personal pursuits and founded the “Pondicherry Photography Club” (PPC), a haven for photo enthusiasts in the region. Evolving from a mere idea to a vibrant community, our group on Flickr and Facebook now boasts around 350 active members who come together weekly for photo walks and discussions. Our shared motto is simple but profound: “Share what you learned.” Notably, we successfully organized two Photography exhibitions in 2014 and 2015, showcasing the diverse talents within our community.
Reflecting on my journey, one standout memory is my first wildlife photography session by the wide-angle group in 2012 with @sudhir_shivaramyahoo-com Sudhir sir, alongside Mr. Aravind Balaraman and other enthusiasts. Though the exact year eluded me, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
As I continue to evolve as a photographer and a creative spirit, I eagerly anticipate the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
