  • When to turn on/off VR on Lense.

    I am having D500 I shoot with 200 500 for wildlife and 55 to 200 for general photography….however i have been trying to get sharpest photo…..i applied all the tricks learned through courses…..but i noticed one thing…

    When i turn off VR it gives me sharper photo that VR on in Hald held….

    Whats your opinion on this…

    I don’t know exactly as I didn’t use it yet but I watched a video on YouTube and he also said that always off VR before shooting birds…

    The only way for to find out is to test in controlled situation and compare the results (as lens may have issues with VR). But otherwise turning off VR may not give you sharper images compared to keeping it ON technically.

    I have been using the same body-lens combination for wildlife photography. So far for me VR On with Sports mode works best in all the scenarios and gives me sharpest pictures.

    Few times i have read that turning off VR while using tripod helps however, even on tripod i keep VR ON and works for me.

    Thank you for your inputs…surely it gave me another approach as I did not think of Lens VR issues.. that could be possibility…. ????
