Hi Sudhir sir/everyone,
Can you please help me understand if I need to do any special steps at customs while coming into India(Mumbai) with Camera gears, for a short trip?
Last time when I visited, they stopped me at customs and asked me to pay duty for my personal/opened/used gears! Even though I was going to stay for couple of weeks and take my all equipments back on my return.
Do I need to have any specific forms signed to show to custom officer, proving that all gear is for personal use and nothing for sale, and I will be taking everything back on my return to US?

I am hoping next time when I come, I will plan for Workshop with Sudhir sir in person 🙂 for this sudden trip, I had to manage other priorities.

Hi Keyur,
I flew multiple times to Bangalore and returned. I have not faced any issues with customs. You do not need to make any specific declaration. I would suggest you carry your Purchase receipts so that you can prove that they are for your personal use when someone stops.

Thank you Pradeep. I never faced any issue on Delhi airport and Mumbai airport in past. But recently only I was stopped and it seemed like unusual trouble for just small couple of lenses which were more than 3 years old!
