Bird photography masterclass – Chapter 6 Exposure and metering – Video # 6.4 Creating low key images – time stamp @ 01.41 secs

You showed an image of a life take with your 800 mm prime lens in the shade.

I have tried with my Canon RF 24-105 mm lens but could not get a similar shot.

    1. Does that mean that this kind of shot is possible for long focal length lenses only.

    Looking forward to your reply.

For low key image, one of the most important requirements is light falling on the subject and very less lighting falling on background. So when you under expose by stop or two, back ground becomes totally dark. It is possible for any focal lengths as long as lightening conditions, metering and exposure compensation are properly dialed in.
