Overcast light helped reveal the intricate details of the elephant’s eye, which is often partially concealed by heavy lashes and deep folds during the harsh daylight hours. The soft, diffused conditions allowed the textures and subtle reflections within the eye to stand out naturally.

I played with various shutter speeds during the ~1 minute this bird was there, to show the rain. I liked this much more – it froze the action while also providing a feel of the falling drops.
